Today I spent the morning addressing that complicated animal – Christmas.
It wasn’t so much a Christmas message, as a pre-Christmas message, in the same way you might see a ref talking to the players before a game. We read Luke 1:5-45 which gives us an account of some of the events leading up to Mary’s pregnancy, and tried to trace how from that we ended up with Christmas. My sermon title was Is Christmas Christian?
This evening we took Leviticus 1 as our text, in order to gain insight into the other end of the telescope, not Christ’s birth, but rather His life, and eventual death. As Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 7:1 ‘the day of death is better than the day of birth.’ My title for the evening was Meditations of Christ on the Atonement.
